To find LOTS OF VERY affordable, recycled bikes for Burning Man visit Re-Cyclery, a bike thrift store operated by Trips for Kids.  Re-Cyclery is located at 610 4th Street in San Rafael and is open Tuesday – Friday noon – 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Each year Trips for Kids takes hundreds of inner-city kids from the Bay Area on guided mountain bike adventures, many of whom have never been outside of their urban neighborhoods.  In 1999 Trips for Kids became a national program. There are now 80 chapters from coast to coast, with more in the works

Performance Stage:
Hello all you fantastical magical bringers of music and joy!

Do you have your ticket and ready to perform on the Center Camp Cafe Stages? Well then, we have great news– we have a few spots left and wanted to make sure you had a chance at them!

We want YOU to share your original musical mayhem with the playa!
We love large and small acts, the strange, obscure and just generally pouring your heart, soul, inspiration and tunes out with glory.

We open at 8pm Monday August 25th and run until Monday morning 7am September 1st!

How do you sign up to perform at the biggest little living room on playa, you ask? Follow me down the rabbit hole:

Fill out our Performer Gathering Tool!

Let us know the name of your act, what you’ll be performing, a link to your latest work, that you already have your BM 2014 ticket and of course confirming that is all original.

Once you fill out the Performer Gathering Tool, send us an email at skirtnboots@burningman.com letting us know you completed the form!

Then, we will work with you to try to find you the best spot (that has suddenly) become available!
There are only a few spots left, so email us and get in on this sweet sweet performance action! Questions? Concerns? Give a holler to Skirt n’ Boots by emailing: skirtnboots@burningman.com

Spoken Word Stage:

The Spoken Word Stage wants timid, thunderous, brilliant, querulous, ideological, raunchy, funny, insightful, obscure, unique voices. It needs your voice.

Whether you are a seasoned performer, or so terrified of public speaking you quake at the mere thought, The Spoken Word Stage is a supportive, welcoming place to share your all original poetry, storytelling, spoken word, soap-box rants, stand-up comedy and performance art.

The stage is open from 11am-6pm from Monday until Sunday. Email magenta@burningman.com to schedule a spot.

For sets of under ten minutes, sign up at the stage any time after 11am on the day you wish to perform for the first-come, first-served Open Mic.

The open-mic is from 5-6pm, Monday through Wednesday, and 4-6pm Thursday through Sunday.

Original material only, please. We want to hear your words and works, not somebody else’s.

CENTER CAMP CAFE COFFEE SHOP WANTS YOU!

The Coffee Shop in Center Camp Cafe is still accepting volunteers of all kinds! We really take Radical Inclusion to heart and, if you’re willing to work with us, we’d like to find you a volunteer position for you. There’s really nothing like the hustle of running through the lines, so that people don’t have to wait so long and nearly every position that we have is a member of a smaller team and a member of a bigger team, too!  So, you get to not just meet a few new people, but work with them and, well…that just creates a special bond.

We’re a unique team, because of these things and we’d really like you to join us—because what we’re about, at our very core, is creating a community space, where everyone is welcome. We’d like you to feel welcome, too.
Please take this opportunity to join us behind the counters.
Roles:

The counter is staffed with Ringleaders, Register Jockeys, Experienced Baristas, Runners, Brewers and a huge range of little things that need doing.

RINGLEADERS are scheduled during our busiest shifts (7am, 11am, 3pm and 7pm and after the Man & Temple Burns) and are there to help our participants choose the appropriate line for their beverage pleasure and to help create a fun environment in the lines. If you’ve spent time on-stage, busking, playing comedy open mic nights, if you’re a drag king/queen or you perform spoken word, or you’re just really, really good holding the attention of complete strangers, this is the volunteer role for you!

REGISTER JOCKEYS work it at the counter, taking orders & making change.

BARISTAS *must* have prior experience and be able to make espressos, lattes, & cappuccinos in all their many variations on a standard machine.

RUNNERS keep things running smooth behind the counter, filling ice coolers (yes! Getting ice out of the ice truck at noon in the desert!), pouring the cold drinks (lemonade, ice chai or coffee), and keeping your barista stocked.

Hours:

We are open 24/7 throughout the event, from 3pm Monday, August 29th, through 3pm Monday, September 5th.

The coffee shop is staffed in four hour shifts that start at 7, 11, & 3 around the clock – that’s both AM and PM. So whether you’re an early riser, or a night owl, we’ve got something for you! We love folks that can volunteer Burn Weekend!

Contact:

We’d love to schedule you up for some shifts in our café!  Please keep in mind that the late night shifts are always the hardest for us to fill, so if you’re up for it please take one of those on.  They’re lots of fun!  Watching the sunrise from behind the coffee shop counter is nothing short of bliss! (Especially the mornings after a good burn…) So what we need from you is simply send an email to coffeeshop@burningman.com if you are interested in any role besides Ringleader and we’ll give you easy instruction on joining our shiftboard! Contact Paulbotto@burningman.com if you are interested in being a Ringleader.

Tickets:

We do not have any tickets to give out to even the best volunteers.

We’re sorry. We would love to give tickets to everyone (really, we would) but we do not have any. Please do not ask. It makes us sad when we have to say NO, because so much of what we love about what we do is saying YES.
