Washington DC, SF North Bay, Vancouver BC, East Bay, San Diego, Texas, South Bay, Reno, Sacramento, Montana, Utah, Portland, Sweden/Denmark – the Nordic Burners, Taiwan, China, Seattle, Lithuania, Spokane WA and New freaking Orleans ya’ll. so yeah. get up in that! C’mon you know you wanna :D we are going to make and gift out upcycled scrap art objects pawned off as imagined artifacts from a history yet to occur. We’re here, come play! http://groups.google.com/d/forum/north-bay-souk

Hello Burners!!!

I’m putting together a cool new book with draft title: “100 Spectacular Playa Moments.” Each page will feature an image of a burner and a paragraph story (trying to get 99 people/the last page will be blank for the reader to write his/her story). I have 58 stories so far and hope to get them all by early June.

I’m inviting, begging, hoping…. you will be a part of this by sending me the following to jstrauss (at) unr (dot) edu :

1. Up to 250 words describing your most exciting, memorable, amazing, touching, or cool experience you’ve ever had at burning man.

2. A picture of you at an event in cool or burner clothes (it can’t be AT Burning Man or else the ORG needs to give permission).

3. Your name for the story (real or playa name ok) and a story title

4. A sentence saying I have your permission to use these in the book

I’m pretty sure I will publish and sell the book in July but I will make an online version to offer free to those who participate with stories.

Much thanks for helping me do this really fun project!!! I look forward to hearing your story.

Love,

Judy (the Gong Diva from Brand UR Ass ‘N More)

Jeff Schomberg’s “LOVE” will be at the Sonoma County Fair this year! Keep your eyes peeled for a lighting ceremony. They are doing a 60′s Peace and Love theme for this year’s fair, and have reached out to invite us to come play. So get your ag on and head on down to the fair July 24-Aug 10 in Santa Rosa. I’ll be the one looking at the fluffy chickens and fluffy, fat bunnies. See you there! http://www.sonomacountyfair.com/

Hello Friends,

On June 7th and 8th I will be having a garage sale to help raise the necessary funds for finishing the creation of my next interactive art project on two trampolines: RESTICLES.

Here are the Garage Sale options:
If you have something that you would like me to sell for you, and you set the price, and the percentage you would like to donate to the project… SUPER!
For example: You have a small cabinet that you would like to get $20. for, and you wish to give me 25% or 50% (or more!)… I will designate an envelope with your name and items and prices.

Or:

You may have a BUNCH of stuff to sell, and you want to spend time on Saturday and Sunday selling your stuff yourself, and donate back to me some percentage of your sales… GREAT!
Come spread your stuff out, and sell sell sell.

I have a GREAT GARAGE SALE LOCATION ON HWY 116 @ BLOOMFIELD RD., not far from the Sebastopol Flea Market, and next door to the OLD Hardcore Coffee location. The traffic flow is excellent, the location very visible, with ample parking.

If you need me to pick up something you wish to donate, I can do that too.
One main point is that after the sale…. EVERYTHING that didn’t sell must be removed (landlady’s rules)…. so nothing stays behind.

Or, if you just want to come by and help with the flow of traffic and sales, that is very nice too… and you can catch a peek at the project in process!

Keep me posted, if you are interested.
Many THANKS!
Deborah

Hammock Hangout 2014 Theme Camp Party

The Hammock Hangout Burning Man 4:30 Sector theme camp will be having a meet and greet party at the SoMa StrEat Food Park onSaturday June 7th from 7pm to midnight. There is no cover and the event is open to everyone. All ages welcome.

Come hang out with The Hammock Hangout crew, commonly known as Space Cats. Sing songs. Lots of songs! Eat and drink from the various food trucks, learn how to make hammocks and tie knots. Put on costumes from the costume rack. Test your hammock making and lounging skills. Sing more songs.

There will be Silent Karaoke…which will make its debut on the playa this year! Our neighbors will be sooooo happy! I’ll teach you how to run it so you can find us at 5am on the Playa when you really just need to sing a song before sunrise!

I’m bringing out my costume rack…the non-playafied one. There are hundreds of costumes, wigs and other weird items for you to play with.

The Hammock Hangout was first conceived by Karaoke KJ Paul in 1998. That year there was one hammock and no shade, but the design was solid. Now there is a 12,000 square foot passive solar shade structure, ~90 hammocks and Karaoke. It is a magical place.

No cover. Come in your Playa best or street clothes and borrow a costume from the rack.

Location: SoMa StrEat Food Park, 428 11th Street, San Francisco
Time: Saturday, June 7, 7pm to Midnight
