June NorthBayNews redux

North Burn Bayers, so much going on right now we’re going for a double tap on the old monthly. I know you can take all the goodness. But can you dig it? Yeah, thought so. I mean I knew that you could 😀

We have another service day this month, there are two workshop style salons coming up, and a ton of fun in the sun. If you run. Ok maybe not, just saunter. Yeah that’s better. do that.

see you out there North Bay!

xoxo RLL

San Francisco Opera will be hosting a Steampunk Night at the Opera on Saturday, June 20. We’ll be offering 30% off tickets to our epic, steampunk-influenced production of The Trojans, as well as a pre-show reception where costumes and accessories will be on display. Complimentary refreshments provided. Costumes and dressing up is highly encouraged!
This is the best (and likely only) ticket discount we’ll be doing for the entire run of The Trojans. The show is selling well, but we’d really like to do something special for the Bay Area steampunk community and would love to offer this to Bay Area Burners as well.
go to: www.sfopera.com/offers and enter the offer code: PUNK30.

AmazonSmile Charity Donation program

If you’re like me and many other people I know, you buy a bunch of stuff from amazon.com. Did you know about their charity donation service, at no cost to you? They donate a portion of your purchase price to a charity / non-profit of your choice.

All you have to do is go to smile.amazon.com and click on the “Supporting:” just below the search bar. You can then choose your charity if you’re logged in. You can also “Change your Charity” from the “Your Account” menu. A search on “Burning Man” came up with these:
– Burning Man Project
– Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies
– Black Rock Arts Foundation
– Los Angeles League Of Arts
– Toastmasters International
– Controlled Burn Fire Performance
– Element 11 Inc (Utah Community)
– BURNT ORANGES INC = Central Florida Regional Burns (PreHeat and Afterburn)

From there on out, all you need to do is remember to go to smile.amazon.com before making your purchase, or install a browser plugin if it’s available. Pass it on!

Read more: https://smile.amazon.com/about
“What is AmazonSmile?

You’re invited to the Burner family reunion picnic!

One last hooray before we head for the desert. The south bay and east bay burners are hosting a joint  meet and greet on July 12. Bring a dish to share if you can. We will have Bar BQ’s available it you want to cook something. Bring you swimming trunks if you want to go for a dip (sorry no skinny dippin). Shameless promoting for your project is encouraged but we need to keep it on the low down. Bring your swag to gift. We will have games to play and prizes to win, and rumor has it a water fight may break out. Mingle network and nosh before the big push to that experiment in the desert. Looking for a camp to join or looking for a couple more camp mates? Want to help out on an art project or maybe you need help with an art project? Are you a virgin eager to learn the ropes or a dusty expert or maybe you are just burn curious? We have rented out a pavilion so we will have shade. We will be kid and dog friendly. Beer and wine are allowed but no hard liquor. No amplified music is allowed but we encourage you to bring your acoustic instruments.  The picnic is FREE as long as you register you can register for the picnic at this eventbrite link. The event is open to all click on the region that is closest to you.

We will be hosting the picnic at beautiful Quarry lakes Regional park in Fremont.  Quarry lakes is 1.2 miles from the union city bart. Entrance is FREE if you bike or walk into the park and it is $5.00 to park if you drive. Quarry lakes has swimming hiking biking and dogs are allowed on a leash. The address to the park is 2100 Isherwood Way, Fremont, CA 94536. The park opens at 6:00 am and closes at 5:00 pm. We will start the Bar BQ’s around 10:00, games will start at 1:00, mooping will start at 4:00. If you want to come early and help set up we will be arriving between 6 and 7 am.

This is the last in the 10 principle meet and greets the South bay burner are putting on. The theme is radical self reliance. The park has graciously allowed us to set up a hexayurt, evapatron, swamp cooler and portable shower for your inspection.

If you are interested in fund raising or want to share or show a project or help set up and tear down contact us using this eventbrite link so we can work out the logistics.
