Hello North Bay Burners!
I’m all jazzed up from attending the 10th Annual Global Leadership Conference in the city last weekend. It was pretty much one inspiring story after another from the wildest assortment of beautiful people coming here from all over the Burnerverse. Indeed the entire planet. To share their cool ideas with us. Regional burns, civic projects, public art and culture jamming galore. As the clips come online I’ll be sharing what I know, and thank you to all of you for sharing the cool things you found too.
Like this from a new burner in town: http://thestreetstore.org/ which is a super cool idea. Dani is going to be doing a clothing drive soon so keep your eyes out for details on that. I will send them as we have them. Someone else mentioned wanting to host a potluck. So watch this space, more to come on that soon. If you want to have a thing, let us know here.
The design for the maker space around the Man has been released, it’s here and I know Sacramento is doing a workshop focused on weaponry, this is their potluck.
Let’s have a parade! One of the things Larry mentioned in his talk at the GLC was it would be cool to have lots of impromptu parades. I seriously doubt he used that word. Anyways I thought it might be fun to collect a bunch of hand fans and have a hand fan parade. We could ponce around the square, the piazza if you will. and believe me, you will ; D so if you have a folding fan and you want to be a parade let’s discuss.
it’s yours, get out there and make it!
xoxo RLL

The Event Horizon is held over Memorial Day Weekend just outside of Las Vegas. It is a celebration of all things we love about the Playa. This isn’t a party, it’s an experiment in temporary community that adheres to the Burning Man 10 principles, an expression of art and diversity.

Second Round of Applications for Bay Bridge Steel Now Open
Salvaged steel from the 1936 East Span of the Old Bay Bridge is being made available for use in civic and public art projects in three rounds. The online application for the second opportunity to apply is now open. Applications for this round (Round B) are due May 2, 2016.
OMCA and the program’s Selection Committee decided to make the steel available in three rounds in order to try to accommodate the broadest range of projects, as different kinds of proposals might require very different amounts of time to develop and organize.
For more information about how to apply, please visit the Bay Bridge Steelpage on the OMCA web site. http://museumca.org/bay-bridge-steel

What is a regional contact? We are volunteer representatives from our region who work with the Burning Man Project to foster community in our local area. You’ve got three representing you here in the North Bay, which was one of the first regions to be established along with Austin and Canada and we are each reachable at our own email address:
Jeremy (dot) sharp (at) burningman (dot) org
justin (dot) brown (at) burningman (dot) org
kellyann (dot) walton (at) burningman (dot) org
or you can get all three at northbay (at) burningman (dot) org just like before. You may notice we are down one, Charlie stepped down this year or as we like to say he has graduated from Burning Man : D Thank you TV Charlie Eubanks for your service! We miss you already. But don’t think you’re off the hook, at your request you will be roped in for all the upcoming fun. And if you ever decide you do want to come to the conference there are spots for local community leaders just waiting for you.
The GLC was amazing as always, I learned so much. I am not an event producer, but if you are and you want to talk about creating a ten principles event let’s make it happen. It doesn’t have to be a big deal, it can start small and grow. We’ve been talking about it for a while now, there’s lots of possibilities. What is our local flavor? How are we special and what do we want to make and share? I’m kind of over having a lot of meetings, but I am down to talk about it and make it happen if you are. http://journal.burningman.org/category/global-network/
One of the things I loved at the GLC was the Ignite talks. The links aren’t up yet, but when they are I’ll share them with you. Some really cool stories. Lots of great stuff up on the You tube channel as well and there will be GLC sessions up there too eventually. So keep checking back and get fired up!
