Dear North Bay Burners,
This is it kids, time to pack all the things! The Man burns in 31 days.
The fires are back, please stay safe out there. We are thinking of you, and sending virtual hugs. That goes double for the places enjoying their third bout of wildfires in as many years – looking at you Lake County. Having been close enough thankyouverymuch I’ve gained a new respect and broader understanding of what fire unchecked and uninvited can do to a person. May all your fires be intentional and cleansing rather than destructive!
Please reach out if there is anything we can do to help. You are not alone. This wild, resourceful community is here to support our fellow Burners. Yes, we’re all knee deep in playa prep but we’ll find time. That’s how we do.
Read on for chances to meet up on playa and off, and a lot more. See you in the dust!
xoxo RLL

Bringing an electric bike to the playa?
We’re receiving an increasing number of complaints about people speeding unsafely on the playa – particularly on electric-powered bicycles. We don’t want to make more rules, but may be forced to if we can’t get participants to operate them safely. If you see someone speeding or riding unsafely, we encourage you to ask them to slow down.
For everyone’s safety and enjoyment, remember three things…
- Be responsible – The speed limit on playa – even for electric-powered bikes – is 5 mph
- Be safe – Even if you’re doing the speed limit, operate safely around participants
- Be considerate – Even beyond being responsible and safe, be considerate of those around you

Call for Participation
The Love Signs project is handmade roadside signs, each which says love in a different language.
We have a shared belief in the power of art to create change, at a time this dire, we needed artist voices and activist voices in the public eye. This is an opportunity to engage in a nationwide act of solidarity to promote change.
We’re trying to connect with:
-
- Other artists who would be interested to collaborate with us to create more signs, specifically artists who speak languages other than English
- People who own land near a major highway (where we could place the signs)
- Grant opportunities/micro grant opportunities
If you have any ideas, please send them our way. We’re hoping to showcase solidarity on America’s roadside.
If you’d like to collaborate as an artist or land owner, please fill out this form.
