Dear North Bay Burners,
After a brief break to focus on family and you know, marching in the streets, I am back with your monthly newsletter. You will find a reminder to log into your Burner Profile and warm up your Ticketfly account, news about a disc golf outing up at Taylor Mountain, and some info on an event I’m working on for your shopping cart race pleasure.
May the rains wash us all clean so we are ready for whatever the world throws at us. Fight the good fight Burners. This is your time to shine.
Burn bright.
love,
RLL

Come meet some local Burners, huck a disc and go for a hike. We are meeting in the parking lot at noon up at Taylor Mountain in Santa Rosa for a disc golf outing on Saturday, February 18th at noon. Come learn how to play, or share your skillz. We will have a Pro Master, a Pro Grandmaster, and other surprise guests from the PDGA circuit on hand to show you how to putt and drive like the cool kids.
Got discs? Bring em! I’m going to see if I can get someone out there with some discs to sell as well, but we will have some for you to borrow too. It’s going to be a fun day hiking around. Come play, bring friends, see you there. And don’t worry if you’re not good at it, I personally will be spending the day missing and looking for my disc in the grass. Golf is not my game. but it’s a pretty course, and I like the company.
Kids are fine to bring but you’re probably going to want to leave the dog at home. They tend to chase after the discs and blow the golf clap vibe. There is a fee to park at the Taylor Mountain Regional Park where the disc golf course is located, it’s $7 per vehicle unless you have a Regional Parks pass. But the fresh air and expert advice is free!
Disc golf noon on the 18th at Taylor Mountain

Coming soon to a hub near you – the Cotatitarod!
What do the Redwood Empire Food Bank, Sonoma Food Runners, the City of Cotati and a small team of people determined to feed the hungry by dressing up, making a spectacle of themselves, completing a pub crawl resplendent with stupid human tricks and a mock dog sled race have in common? So glad you asked! Why you, of course. This spring the very first Cotatitarod will burst forth from the bandshell, mush its way around the Cotati hub and collect food donations for our local food bank.
We are currently in negotiations with the city to gain a permit for the event, and you are invited to participate. Modeled after the Chididarod and centered around the Cotati Hub this event is slated to go off in a couple of months. Want in? Let me know at kellyann.walton@burningman.org or just find a refurbished shopping cart and start decorating! Each team of five people will need to collect 60lbs of food for the Redwood Empire Food Bank, so you can get a head start on pulling your team together or jump in the fray and help us make this dream a reality.
More information to come, dates, routes and details to follow! Let’s run around and be silly to help end hunger in Sonoma County. You can find out more about it here and wish me good luck with the City Council! We have the support of several members already, and are in talks with the person responsible for issuing the permits. The next step is getting local businesses on board to act as checkpoints so if you know anyone at the 8Ball hook a bitch up!

That’s it for now, unless you have anything good. Until next time, I remain ever so truly…
