Dear my North Bay Burners,

It is I, your ever intrepid Regyna, long of Longlankia, writing to you this fine rainy day in Northern California, late in October in the second oddest year. I hope this finds you well and warm and in a safe place to weather this storm. The winds of change are upon us! Let us heed the call.

On that note I wish to tell you how much I have loved being your regional contact these last ten-deeleven-mummbledy years since I stepped up in 2010 or so, although some notes do say 2011, we have decided that is pretty likely not the case. At any rate it is time for me to rise up and face this brand-new day with less of a title and more of a mission.

Although I am stepping down as a regional contact for Burning Man in the North Bay I’m not really going anywhere, and indeed will still be here doing the same sorts of things, just in new ways. Or not. I mean nothing is really planned other than a workshop to make some hula hoops. Other than that, I’m winging it! (As usual lol) I am very grateful for all that I have learned and experienced in my time as a volunteer with the regionals. It’s a great group, and I will be staying on as an alumni so I can still hear all the stories about the cool stuff people are doing, and keep tabs on all of you.

Speaking of which, you will be left in the capable hands of Jeremy Sharp and Justin Brown, your other regionals for this area, and I look forward to seeing what transpires, and who inspires, and will there be more regional contacts stepping up? Remains to be seen! The story continues, and I have loved helping to write this chapter with all of you.

Come celebrate this transition by making some hula hoops in the park in downtown Cotati. It’s a hexagon, but we will make some circles, and come back around to fully see the cycles and patterns as they pass. I have come full circle with my journey as an active regional contact and will be spiraling off in some other creative directions. Maybe it’s your time to step into the hoop? If you are inspired to bring together the Burning Man folks from Humboldt, Mendocino, Lake, Napa, Sonoma and Marin counties and facilitating community is your jam reach out to the regionals and take your swing.
