Dear North Bay Burners,
As promised here is your second post for the month. Mostly because I said I would! I’m still digging myself out of the piles, and haven’t yet synthesized my experience into some pithy nugget to share. As usual the Burn was challenging in that oh, you think you’re good? Well try this! Sort of way. It was also epic, amazing, exhausting, super fun, and ever inspiring. All the packing and planning and hauling of cookies to and fro aside, that one moment where I rode out alone into the night to see the poofers, blinkies and builds was magic. Nothing like taking your vacation in the city that’s only there when you are! Ever changing and always new, my annual pilgrimage to Black Rock City continues to enchant.
I hope you had fun with whatever you chose to do this year, and that you’re recovering nicely. Here are a few things to remind you what it’s all about.
xoxo RLL

SF Decompression 2018 – Call for Participation!
Bring the spirit and imagination of Black Rock City to the Bay and help create the 2018 incarnation of “Black Top City” — an urban version of Burning Man along the historic Bayshore waterfront at the historic Potrero Power Station, here! Our community will once again create a wonderful microcosm of BRC, with art, mutant vehicles, theme camps, inner- and deep-playa, performance, and discovery – in a black-top setting at a brand new location! We’ll have even more extra setup and strike time, so together we will take the art and theme camp participation to the next level! We want to hear from participants ASAP to make this the best Decompression ever!
Theme camps and sound camps, art, fire art, art cars and mutant vehicles – let us know what you’d like to share by filling out our Decompression Participation Questionnaire here!
Performers of all stripes, musicians, bands, dancers, DJs, variety acts, fire performers – please complete this quick Decompression Performer Submission Form here!
Just like creating BRC, Black Top City is built with love by volunteers! Decompression happens through dedicated volunteer efforts, cooperation, gifting, and community in action. Sign up with our Volunteer Participation Form here and become a part of the Burning Man Community Events team, and help create the wonder of Black Top City!

Site Walk Weekends at Di Rosa
The Di Rosa Preserve, home to many sculptures created by artists who have had work at Burning Man, has completed their post fire clean up. They are offering self guided sculpture tours, a first, and this fan girl says go check it out!
On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays now through October 28th, visitors will be able to self-guide di Rosa’s galleries, Sculpture Meadow, Olive Grove and Courtyard on their own. You’ll also be able to walk the scenic drive alongside Winery Lake and enjoy di Rosa’s beautiful grounds, all on your own.
This is the first time in di Rosa’s storied history that the grounds will be open for visiting without a guide, so be sure to come by this fall to explore and observe the art at your own pace. While you are here, let us know what you think about your di Rosa experience!
Admission is $18, $15 for Senior, Military, Educators and Students, and free for 17 and under and College/University Faculty with ID. Optional tours are included with admission. As always, tour reservations are recommended.
