Hello North Bay Burners!

According to the Jackrabbit Speaks it is now 88 days until the Man burns. Summer is upon us and it’s time to make all the things! The Temple build is well underway in Petaluma, you can find info and updates on that here https://www.facebook.com/Temple-2016-125748037611542/ if you are on the book of face, or here at the temple webpage http://www.thetemplecrew.org/ where you can check out this Temple as well as find some information on Temples built by David Best in the past.

I’ve gotten to help out a little bit down at the build site in Petaluma, and it’s going to be really beautiful. David’s going for a vinegar and steel wool patina on the pallet wood leavings, and working with mostly recycled materials to keep the budget modest. The kickstarter is about to go live any day now, so keep an eye out for that too.

Do you get the Jackrabbit? Because you will want all the good information jumping in your inbox. Subscribe to the Jackrabbit Speaks here http://jackrabbit.burningman.org/t/t-l-dkjuiit-gururtyd-hu/ and make sure you don’t miss a trick.

Strandbeest at Exploratorium is amazing, if you get a chance to go down and check it out, the details will blow you away. I got to hear a talk about the gears and how Theo Jansen created the design through simulated evolution on an old Atari he reprogrammed. And a talk with Lena Herzog about her photography and stories from the seven summers she spent on the beach with the beests. Definitely worth the trip. It’s up all summer, get the info here http://www.exploratorium.edu/strandbeest

Speaking of worth the trip, Burners at di Rosa last weekend was super fun, we got to see a ton of art and then drank all the wine. What a great day!

If you haven’t checked out di Rosa it’s a rare treat. So much art, right now Paul Kos has an exhibit up in the Gatehouse Gallery. We did the outdoor tour. Highly recommend it, some fascinating local art and a lovely spot to hang out for the morning. http://www.dirosaart.org
The second annual multi regional summit is this weekend up at the Cisco campground, lots of regional contacts and local organizers are meeting to discuss best practices and socialize and hopefully work on making some kind of Northern campout happen. I’m heading up there with Jeremy to meet with other RC’s from Sacramento, Tahoe, Reno and all over the Bay Area to camp out and talk Burning Man. I missed it last year, so I’m excited to check it out and report back about what we discover. Kind of a local version of the Global Leadership Conference organized by some Sac Burners. Should be fun.

And now for the good stuff! Stay cool my Burners, until next time,

xoxo RLL

For the June East Bay Burners Social we’ll have representatives from several Burning Man departments talk about their playa services. Afterwards the department reps will be available to answer your questions and discuss opportunities to join their teams.

Let’s build this city!

North Bay Meet and Greet
Argy Bargy
Saturday June 25
7pm at 1151 Humboldt Street, Santa Rosa CA 95404

The meet and greet known as Salon has emerged from the ashes as a whole new situation. You can read all about it here http://northbayburners.org/argy-bargy/ but basically it’s gone from polite conversation to an animated discussion, perhaps argument, about whatever topic happens to come up. This time the topic is Playa Hacks, the tips and tricks for show and tell. Prepare to step up and throw down, I’ll take whatever side you don’t! We are back at the Olson’s place, bring a beverage to share or something to munch and we will get our debate on crusty old Burner style. A bit more in your face, a lot more fun.
