Global Remembrance of Larry June 21st

According to the JRS “We are currently planning to instigate a global remembrance of Larry on June 21, the summer solstice. That’s when Larry and some friends burned the Man back in the beginning. What better date for a celebration of all that’s happened since and to reflect on the creative spark that Larry brought to the world? We will be releasing more details around June 1.”

https://journal.burningman.org/2018/05/black-rock-city/participate-in-brc/honoring-larry-harvey-all-around-the-world/

“Also, Bay Area folks: look out for a storytelling event about Larry mid-July.”

Faux Fur Stole Workshop

CANCELLED

Saturday, June 23rd from 11am-3pm
Frog Song Co-Housing Common House
8290 Old Redwood Hwy, Cotati, California 94931

Learn how to make a faux fur stole! Several folks have asked me to teach them how to make one like mine with the faux mink tails on the ends. I will bring my sewing machines and my sample stole, and we can design one just for you using the pattern I created as a base. You will go home with one of a kind wearable art!

My favorite furs for this are the faux ostrich, faux feather, and faux porcupine, but you can use anything you like. Full disclosure, nice faux fur is spendy! There is a sale going on right now at Beverly’s in Rohnert Park so you can get stuff there until the end of May at a pretty good price. If you want to go all out get your main fur online and then get the fur for the lining and the tails at the sale. I’ll give some options, and details on supplies you’ll need on the facebook event, link below.

Bring enough fur to make your stole, a sewing machine if you’ve got one, and I will show you how to cut and sew your faux fur so it looks its best. We will use a long shaggy faux fur for one side, and then a short curly faux fur for the lining and the tails. That way it’s reversible. I’m excited to see all the variations on this design! I love mine, and I’m looking forward to sharing the pattern with you.

Everywhere/ARTery Pavilion

Greetings Burners around the World! We’re calling on you to help artfully activate the Everywhere/ARTery Pavilion with performance, art, and interactive experiences. Operated by Burning Man Project, the Pavilion is a hub showcasing projects and initiatives sparked by the 10 Principles in Black Rock City. We are seeking art, performance, and participatory experiences drawn from the Burning Man Global Network to inspire and illustrate how Burning Man is a year-round and global cultural movement. You can visit the Pavilion on 6:15 and Esplanade.

Bonus points for art, performance or content that is dynamic, interactive, fun, delightful, approachable, surprising and inspires curiosity.

Ways to Participate…

Visual & Installation Artists
We are seeking visual art both 2D and 3D, which can either be free-standing on the ground or on pedestals, displayed on walls throughout the space, or suspended from the Pavilion ceiling. Bonus points if your art has been featured at an official regional event. Art must arrive in Black Rock City and be ready for installation by Sunday, August 26th. If your piece is departing from the San Francisco Bay Area, we may be able to help with its transport. Sorry, no flame effects in the Pavilion. 🙁

Performance Artists
Each day we will curate a lineup of unique, up-close n’ personal performances. Circus performers, magicians, storytellers, puppeteers, musicians with unusual instruments, jugglers, poets, dancers, will be showcased in an intimate stage environment. The best fit would be small acts: solo, duo, trio ensembles in a warm, low-tech setting, setting the mood for an incredible day.

Participatory Content Created by YOU
Don’t fit into any of the above formats? Tell us how you want to create a workshop or experience that is interactive, fun, and inspiring!

Fill out this form by June 30, 2018 to submit for your participation – we look forward to hearing from you soon!

With appreciation and dust,
Everywhere/ARTery Activation Team
