Wizzard is back at it again!!

Bringing large scale burnable art to Black Rock City and we need your support! This years art piece is called Sun Tower, this will be the largest structure to date, is climbable and will be a daytime burn! That’s right, a DAYTIME BURN involving all of you!!

Please take a few moments to check out our campaign and if your able, we would love for you to contribute.

http://igg.me/at/suntower/x/822582

About the Sun Tower: :2228 years after Archimedes is said to have destroyed an attacking Roman naval fleet using mirrors, we will bring the Sun Tower to the playa and try to set it on fire the same way.

This 30+ foot tall climbable tower will have a sun shaped mandala at the top. On Friday around 1PM hundreds of participants around the perimeter will be given mirrors to reflect sunlight at the center of the mandala where a target wad of cannon fuse will catch fire and set the rest of the tower alight.

Thank you very much,

Wizzzard and Sun Tower Team

Creative Sonoma: Sudden Opportunity Grants: Deadline July 10, 2015

A new grant program has been established through Creative Sonoma for individuals and organizations who are producing summer arts youth programs this summer for Sonoma residents.  The grants are being fast-tracked and have a streamlined grant application.  The Deadline for Application is July 10, 2015.  Guidelines and application forms are currently available for download at two sites: the EDB website, and Dropbox as follows – Grant Guidelines, Application Form and Fiscal Sponsor Form.

Please make sure to DOWNLOAD the forms in order to make them “fillable”. These documents will also be available on the Sonoma County website by Monday, June 29th.

The Grant Program was funded by the County Supervisors last week in order to recognize and encourage summer arts opportunity for young people.  The total fund is $100,000 and grants awards may range from $2500 to $20,000.  Projects must take place no later than September 30, 2015 and produce a minimum of 20 hours of arts programming, for students from 7 to 18.  Applicants will need to demonstrate a track record of at least one year.  Individuals will need to work through a Fiscal Sponsor to be eligible to receive funds.

For further information, please contact kristen.madsen@sonoma-county.org. Please bear with any technical glitches that inadvertantly have been built into the process given the rapid turn-around.

Off Playa Productions and the Downtown Berkeley Association present

BERKELEY SPARK 3.0 ARTS + INNOVATION FESTIVAL

Saturday, July 18, 10:00am – 9:00pm

Civic Center Park, 2151 Martin Luther King Jr Way, Berkeley, CA

Join us as we transform Berkeley’s Civic Center Park into a day of creative collaboration, community engagement and pre-Playa festivities.  This is the place for you if you’d like to meet the build crew for the Temple of Promise and other Burning Man affiliated groups, are looking for inspiration, playtime, camaraderie…and more.

We invite you to co-create an incredible interactive experience with the East Bay community for one extraordinary day. Organize a yoga workshop, a flash mob, a poetry slam, interactive spontenous art, share stories, body paint, play acoustic music, offer up relational art, action art, works-of-art-as-yet-undefined and those works never-to-be-defined.

Festival Highlights include

+ Temple of Promise preview – meet the team behind the build and get to see some of the Temple’s sculptures – “ribs” and “rocks” up close and personal, learn more about it’s construction, how to get involved with the build,

+ Step into a large-scale camera obscura, write a “Letter to the Universe,” collaborate on a large-scale community mural from ArtIsMobilUs, decorate mutant flamingos, learn more about the Black Rocks Scouts and how they create an incredible experience for children and their families on and off the playa, and meet Segue, a gal who builds electric-assist cargotrikes,

+ Participate and share your best Burner Hack practices on shade, water, energy, food, and anything hackable,

+ Jump into spontaneous games, activities and chill spaces from local Burning Man theme camps,

+ Enjoy music streaming from the mutant vehicle Unaverz (which some say looks like a giant jelly fish), normally in residence at American Steel,

+ Check out the Artisans/Innovation Market featuring more than 50 local designers, artists, tech companies, community businesses and local non-profits

+ Meet local beer and mead crafters and so much more.
