Burning Man June Flambe Lounge: CARNIVAL OF CULTS
Save the date & Call for Participation!
Saturday, June 15th, 2013
9pm to 3:30am
At The CULTure Factory, 525 Harrison St, San Francisco, a 21+ over venue

Artists, theme camps, performers and DJs wanting to participate in this event-ing of community and creativity should email flambelounge (at) burningman (dot) com

CARNIVAL OF CULTS Theme: Some wonder if Burning Man is a cult. If we are, then we are a DIY cult where members are encouraged to think for themselves and wash their own brains!  For this evening we invite you to create your own imaginative, playful, satiric, retro-absurd or future envisioning cults. We encourage you to dress and act the part, create midway games, processional groups and bizarre rituals to inspire followers to join you.

Bring your cult of personality and beliefs to life in a collaborative and creative manner. You might create a roving theme camp cult of pious platypi seeking to recruit new members for its art colony. Perhaps you are a closet alien cult leader on a galactic campaign to save the Cosmos! Prepare YOUR message and indoctrination ritual! We welcome your creative and collaborative interpretations of this playful and poignant theme—whether you are a cult of one or many. It’s up to you!

To bring your art, theme camp or perform, email flambelounge (at) burningman (dot) com today! Any and all are welcome whether thematic or not.

Heya folks! Earlier this month the Indiana Burners held a Potluck, Costume Swap, and Fire event at a local bar that’s been super wonderful to our community. During that time we were being filmed for a short vignette for the local PBS station’s Art of the Matter (you might know it from NPR, now it’s on PBS, YAY pictures!). Here’s what was turned in:http://vimeo.com/64756145 We feel super special getting to do this and share a little of our burner community with the larger Indiana community. Cheers! Justin, one of our own North Bay RC’s, is doing a DJ gig down in North Hollywood on June 1st. He is going to dj sets based on 8 bit legacy video game music between the live sets, also chip set based. Some of what he’s doing will be dubstep, mostly it is hip hop, glitch hop, some house and trap hop, maybe some drum and bass. All mixed in with recognizable themes from the popular video games from the glory days of 8 bit. The live bands are a variety of styles, some have never played live before! So if you’re down south swing by and say hi. represent : D
